The mermaid has definitely featured in myriad of stories and movies over the years and strangely enough in varied form, like Ulysses’ Sirens on one hand, and then in. Disney’s comedy ‘Splash’ starring Daryl Hannah on the other.

The Disney success has been most ably backed up by the musical ‘The Little Mermaid’, based on the famous children’s fairytale of the same name, by Hans Christian Anderson.

The myths and legends are equally abundant. The story about the cruelty of the mermaid luring sailors to their death is one side of the mermaid that is very easily forgotten.
