Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas
Each year, millions of people spend weeks planning for and getting ready for the festivities of Halloween. But there are just as many people out there who wait until the last possible moment to even begin thinking about costumes. Ideally, what costume to wear should be given some serious time and thought. It’s not like decorations and candy that can wait until October 31st in the afternoon. Still, if you’re stuck and it’s the eleventh hour, all is not lost. With a little ingenuity, you’ll be ready for that party or haunted house in no time.
The important thing to remember is to stay calm rather than panicking. Waiting until the last minute to throw together a creative costume doesn’t mean it won’t be good. Rationally, catalog the various items around your home. Cardboard boxes, loose fabric, glitter, and face paint can all be transformed from random items in a junk drawer into a great Halloween costume.
A ghost costume is, of course, the classic last minute save. A sharp pair of scissors and a plain white bed sheet are all you need. You could even throw a humorous twist in by using something other than white. A tie dye ghost would be hilarious! Whether you go strictly classic or a little more funky, your ghost costume is sure to score plenty of compliments.
Those old and unused cardboard boxes taking up space in your garage can also become a memorable and creative robot costume. You need boxes the right size for your body, arms and legs. Paint them whatever colors you have and let them dry. Cut holes in the tops and bottoms of the various sized boxes and paint robotic graphics onto them with the paint.
Rummaging through your parent’s or grandparent’s closets could yield you a great outfit as well. Period themed costumes are both easily accomplished and a guaranteed hit at any Halloween party. Maybe you could find a 50s style skirt and pair it with a pink scarf. Or maybe there’s an old suede jacket and hat available.
You could put together a ninja costume in just minutes with a pair of black sweat pants, a black tee shirt and a bandana. Do you have younger siblings who might be willing to loan you some toys like plastic swords or throwing stars? If not, you could swing by Toys R Us on the way to the pumpkin patch orange county and pick up a couple of items.
A little bit of fake blook and some foundation make-up are sufficient to create a zombie costume. Applying the foundation and fake blood and messing up your hair will go a long way. In fact, adding a little bit of fake blood to plain regular clothes will make a seemingly well thought costume for trick or treating.
For the hopelessly last minute planners, even pajamas will do. A terrycloth robe or a matching pair of colorful thermals both make great last minute outfits. Wearing pajamas, while it may not seem to be a costume, will still give the appearance of prep work. Go as a small child or toddler by adding pigtails or a lollipop to your pajamas. You could go further by adding exaggerated freckles with a tip of a mascara brush, or put on a lot of rouge for rosy childlike cheeks.
Don’t skip that party just because you have nothing to wear. Look around the house, put something together and find a Halloween activity San Diego and have a great time!
